The night is for parents and guardians only; students do not attend.
You get to hear from Mr. Jordan about school priorities for the year, meet your student’s teachers, follow an abbreviated daily schedule to visit their classrooms,
and learn about expectations and curriculum.
More people come to Back-to-School Night than to any other event at Brown all year, so parking can be a challenge. Allow plenty of time to park and walk up to the school.
You will follow a schedule that night that your students will bring home in advance. PRO TIP: take a picture of the schedule your students bring home and keep it in your phone. Duplicate copies will only be available in each student’s advisory room, not from the main office. If you don’t have a pic of the schedule and don’t know the advisory room, you’ll need to look it up on the student list
posted near the office.
It’s the night that the paper edition of our school directory is distributed to families who have contributed PTO dues (suggested $50/family but any amount gratefully accepted).
Avoid longer lines and wait time by paying your dues before midnight on Monday, September 18. Then, at Back to School Night, go straight to the pre-paid tables in the lobby–organized by student last name–to pick up your directory. Pay dues here.
Did we say this already? Pay your dues before Back to School Night so we can move everyone through the lines quickly. If you can’t remember whether you’ve paid, email email@example.com by Monday. You’ll be glad you did. Thank you!!
Get ready to meet other parents in Advisory, an innovative program designed to give your child consistent peer and adult connections throughout their three years at Brown. Did you know that Brown pioneered Advisory at the middle school level in Newton? Your student starts every day in Advisory, except Tuesday.
