Help still needed to get kids outside at lunch! Volunteer for 6th Grade Laps@Lunch Pilot Program!

Help us get this great program off the ground! We need volunteers, to help monitor 6th graders as they pilot a new Laps@Lunch program that allows them to get outside & active during the school day. If we can show success with the 6th grade this spring then we can run the program for all grades starting in the fall. This program is entirely dependent on parent volunteers so please consider contributing 30 minutes of your time! Bigelow Middle School runs this program, so can Brown!NEXT STEPS

1) Fill submit your CORI/SORI forms and a copy of your driver’s license (or passport) to Margaret_Power@newton.k12.ma.us. You can also drop off hard copies at the school office. Please do this ASAP as it takes 10-14 days to complete a background check. (CORI/SORI expires after three years so if it’s been a while since you submitted paperwork send me your full name and I’ll check on your status.)

2) Come to a parent volunteer meeting with Ms. Antonellis & Ms. Woods, the PE teachers starting Brown Laps@Lunch to get details about how things will work.
Wednesday, May 1 at 5:15 pm
or
Thursday, May 2 at 8:00 am

3) Sign up here for whatever day or days you can help.
30-minute slots are open from May 10 – June 17.

If you have any questions, please contact Tamara Bekefi.

Getting outside for a walk even just fifteen minutes per school day translates to an extra 75 minutes a week, 300 minutes per month, and 45 hours per school year. Do you want to help bring that to your 6th grader? We need your help!
