How do the 8th-Graders Celebrate at the end of the school year?

The 8th-grade class will head off to Canobie Lake Park on Monday, June 17. The same evening there is a casual class party in the school gym with a DJ, photo booth and lots of fun.

Is there a PARTY for the kids?

Yes, on the evening of Monday, June 17 from 7:00PM to 9:00PM, there is a super, fun, casual party at the school gym with a DJ, photo booth, pizza, ice cream and lots of fun.  Last year over 200 attended the party, so tell your kids to go!

Is there a Yearbook this year?

YES! Many staff and students led by Mr. Primeau have been working hard this year on an 8th-grade Class Yearbook. It will be available for purchase soon with a bundled year-end activities package. The yearbook will be distributed sometime during the last week of school, exact details forthcoming.

Do I need to order a yearbook in advance?

NO, UNLIKE IN YEARS PAST, THERE WAS NOT A PRE-ORDER DEADLINE FOR THE YEARBOOK. The school switched away from using an outside provider this year, so there was no early deadline to order a book.

What happens at the Moving On Ceremony?

On Tuesday, June 18, there will be a  Moving On ceremony at 8:15 AM in the Newton South athletic field house. More details will be forthcoming but in general, students arrive that morning at Newton South and are seated alphabetically. The ceremony includes class speakers as well as musical performances. Students are then individually presented with an 8th-grade certificate. Following the ceremony, there is time for mingling and photos. While the timing is not exact, plan for at least an hour and a half to two hours that morning. Students do not need to return to Brown that day unless they are taking a bus home or still need to clean out their locker!
