The end of 8th grade is an exciting time in your son or daughter’s life with middle school almost behind them and high school on the horizon. 8th Grade Activity Fee Details
All activities are covered by an 8th Grade Activity Package Fee of $80:

Payments can be made online by clicking HERE or by check made out to Brown PTO and turned into the school office. (Please specify “8th Grade Events” in the memo line.)
$55 – Canobie Lake Trip
$10 – Class Party
$10 – Yearbook
$5 – Class Gift Donation
*While there is an option to buy each item separately, the total Activity Package Fee helps Brown to pay for teachers and staff to attend the Canobie trip and to provide for students needing financial assistance.
No student will be turned away due to an inability to pay. Scholarships are available—please send an email to Principal John Jordan at firstname.lastname@example.org, or contact your team teacher. All information is kept confidential.

8th Grade Activity Details
Canobie Lake Park Trip:
To attend the Canobie Lake trip, your child must submit a permission slip by Monday, June 10. Click HERE to download a permission slip. The trip is chaperoned by teachers and has become a traditional rite of passage for 8th graders!
Class Party: – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
This is fun, casual party for kids to celebrate the end of middle school. Complete with a DJ, food, refreshments, photo booth and more, it is sure to be a great time. Volunteers are needed, if you can help, please click HERE to sign up. Only 8th grade Brown students may attend. Party attire is school-appropriate casual, not a fancy-dress affair!
Moving On Ceremony: Tuesday, June 18, 8:15am
The Moving On ceremony will be held in the Newton South Field House. Students must arrive by 8:05am to line up alphabetically by team color. Ceremony will begin promptly at 8:15am. Some parking may be available in the parking lots closest to the tennis courts at Newton South, however school with school still in session, it is advised to park at Oak Hill or Brown and walk via the track to the Newton South Field House. Ceremony is estimated to last 60 minutes and will be immediately followed by time for pictures and mingling outside the Newton South field house. You should plan for approximately 1 1/2 hours in total. For more information, download the Moving On Ceremony FAQ.
We are looking forward to this year’s 8th Grade Class Yearbook! This year, the yearbook was produced in-house, led by Mr. Primeau. The books will be distributed on Friday, June 14 at the school with plenty of time for signatures. Many students choose to bring them on the night of the party too but please be sure to put your name on it!
Class Gift Contribution
Each year, the 8th Grade Class contributes to a Class Gift. The Class of 2019 Gift will be used to purchase additional benches and a refillable water station for the Brown gymnasium lobby among other ways to spruce up this area.

8th Grade Parent Checklist
- Complete and turn in the Canobie Lake Park Day Field Trip Permission Slip by Monday June 10.
- Pay the 8th Grade Activity Fee which includes the for the Canobie Lake trip, the Class Party, Yearbook and Class Gift by making a payment online HERE or by check for $80 made out to Brown PTO and turned in to the School Office. In case of financial hardship, please email Principal Jordan.
