Community

Newton is a community rich in opportunities and services for families. From afterschool enrichment to childcare and mental health services, explore offerings from the City of Newton and private groups.

The Newton Public Schools website provides district-wide information such as curriculum overviews, transportation and lunch program policies, and links to the School Committee and all Newton public schools.

The Newton Free Library, consistently named one of the nation’s top libraries, lends not only books, CDs, and DVDs, but offers museum passes, educational/cultural programs, and in-library and online research materials. All free!

The Newton Parent Advisory Council (PAC) on Special Education serves as a liaison between parents of students with special needs and school district administrators. As mandated by Massachusetts law, we provide feedback to the district on special education programs and policies, and participate in their planning and development.

Many services/programs focusing on children and families can be found in the Newton area, from afterschool opportunities to mental health services. See Family Resources for a partial listing.
