Summer Reading

Summer Reading 2021 – One School, One Book:

This summer we are asking students to read two books.  One will be specific to the grade level they are at and the other will be our One School, One Book read.

For our whole school read we have chosen the graphic novel, Stargazing by Jen Wang.  We will spend time doing lessons in advisory in the fall discussing the themes of this book.  Below is a description:

Required Summer Reading for All Grades:

Stargazing by Jen Wang.

Moon is everything Christine isn’t. She’s confident, impulsive, artistic . . . and though they both grew up in the same Chinese-American suburb, Moon is somehow unlike anyone Christine has ever known.

New York Times–bestselling author-illustrator Jen Wang draws on her childhood to paint a deeply personal yet wholly relatable friendship story that’s at turns joyful, heart-wrenching, and full of hope.

In addition the following books are required by incoming grade:

Entering 6th Grade: Frazzled by Booki Vivat

Entering 7th Grade – Clean Getaway by Nic Stone

Entering 8th Grade – Reader’s choice for the second book. The options are here.
