Every student at Brown is assigned a guidance counselor in 6th grade (see below for a chart of teams and their assigned counselor). The Guidance Department’s focus is to help the “whole” child navigate middle school. They establish on-going relationships with the children and anticipate concerns that might arise. This is not the middle school counseling department of your youth.
The Health Education curriculum introduces many issues which can then be dealt with in more detail with the child’s guidance counselor. Below is a slideshow created by the Guidance and Health Education Departments outlining the health curriculum and role of the guidance counselor.
If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please feel free to contact the Guidance Department at 617-559-6907, or email your child’s counselor. For questions regarding the health curriculum, please contact the Health teacher, Elizabeth Messina.
For more information regarding the role of Guidance Counselors at Brown, please the see the Guidance Department page on the Brown Middle School website, or contact your child’s counselor.
