Welcome to the 8th Grade Moving On Activities Page!

The end of 8th grade is an exciting time in your child’s life with middle school almost behind them and the beginning of high school on the horizon. And our 8th graders have had quite the middle school experience! To see them off in style, we are excited to announce some fun activities at Brown to help our kids celebrate this special time.

In the coming days, we’ll be communicating more details and to sign-up for volunteers here. Meanwhile, your quick response to payment is appreciated. All funds go to the 8th-grade celebration.

Congrats to our 8th Grade Bears!

8th Grade Activity Details

Class Party:  Tuesday, June 21, 2022 3:00-5:00pm at Brown Middle School
This is fun, casual party for kids to celebrate the end of middle school. Complete with a DJ, food, refreshments, photo booth and more, it is sure to be a great time. Only 8th grade Brown students may attend.  Party attire is school-appropriate casual, not a fancy-dress affair!

Volunteers are needed.

Canobie Lake Park Trip:  Thursday, June 23, 2022 8:30am-2:30pm
To attend the Canobie Lake trip, your child must submit a permission slip, available below, by June 13, 2022.  The trip will be chaperoned by teachers and has become a traditional rite of passage for 8th graders!

Moving On Ceremony: Friday, June 24, 2022 10:00-11:30am at NSHS
The Moving On ceremony will be held on the Newton South High School Football Field, beginning promptly at 10:00am.  In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved to the Field House.  Please do not arrive much before 9:45am as Oak Hill will be wrapping up their ceremony.  Be sure to bring lawn chairs or something to sit on!  Some parking may be available in the parking lots closest to the tennis courts at Newton South; however, with school still in session, it is advised to park at Oak Hill or Brown and walk via the path to the Newton South Football Field.  The ceremony is estimated to last 60 minutes and will be immediately followed by time for pictures and mingling outside.  You should plan for approximately 1 1/2 hours in total. For more information, download the Moving On Ceremony FAQ.

Class Yearbook
We are looking forward to this year’s 8th Grade Class Yearbook! This year, the yearbook was produced in-house, led by Mr. Primeau.  The books will be distributed in June at the school with plenty of time for signatures. Many students choose to bring them on the day of the party too, but please be sure your child puts their name on it!

Class Gift Contribution

In the past this included benches for the patio and educational games for the advisory program.  Class of 2022 is currently TBD- more information to come!

We hope your child can join us for all these events to celebrate their time at Brown Middle School!
